2025.05.04 | When Jesus Wants More Than Just Our Sundays
This blog is based on the sermon from May 4, 2025.
It’s amazing how noisy life can get. As a mom of three, my weeks are full... full of backpacks and lunch boxes, full of after-school snacks and bedtime stories, full of work emails and endless laundry piles. Most days, I feel like I’m running from one thing to the next, doing my best to keep everyone fed, loved, and (mostly) on time.
But this past Sunday at Hope Community, the message stopped me right in my tracks.
We were in Matthew 15, where Jesus reminds us that it’s not what’s going on outside that separates us from God… it’s what’s happening in our hearts.
As I listened, I realized how easy it is to slide into "busy faith." You know what I mean... where we show up to church, maybe read the Bible when we can, but deep down, we’re just giving Jesus what’s left over after everything else. That hit me harder than I expected. I could almost hear Him whispering to me:

You know what I mean... where we show up to church, maybe read the Bible when we can, but deep down, we’re just giving Jesus what’s left over after everything else. That hit me harder than I expected. I could almost hear Him whispering to me:
“I don’t just want part of you. I want all of you.”
What encouraged me, though, was this... Jesus doesn’t say that to shame you. He says it with love. With an invitation to something fuller, deeper, and more life-giving than just going through the motions.
Even on the days I’m worn thin, even when my words (and heart) aren’t as kind as they should be, Jesus still looks at me and says,
Even on the days I’m worn thin, even when my words (and heart) aren’t as kind as they should be, Jesus still looks at me and says,
“I’ll do whatever it takes to have you in My family.”
That’s the gospel.
Not that we have to get it all right, but that He gave everything to bring us close.
This week, I’m praying for a heart that’s less distracted and more devoted. I’m asking Jesus to shape what comes out of my life by changing what’s inside of it. And I’m thankful for a church family that reminds me… whether you’re a mom juggling chaos or just someone trying to figure out faith… Jesus wants ALL of your heart. And He meets us with grace every time we come.
