2025.05.25 | Loaves, Fish, and a Full Calendar: Why I’m Still Saying Yes to Jesus
This blog is based on the sermon from May 25, 2025.
This past Sunday at Hope, we heard the story of Jesus feeding the four thousand as we’re finishing up Matthew 15… and it stopped me in my tracks. Not because it was new, but because this time, it felt incredibly personal.
Jesus didn’t create bread out of nothing. He asked, “What do you have?” The disciples brought what they had… seven loaves and a few small fish… and Jesus multiplied it. That’s when it clicked. He didn’t need something extraordinary… He just needed their yes.
Lately, I’ve been feeling stretched. I want to serve in ministry and give God my best, but life is full. I’m raising 3 kids with my husband and caring for my mom, whose health has been declining. Plus there’s work too. Most days, I’m juggling grocery lists, cleaning, carpooling, medical appointments, email, and laundry… on repeat. There’s hardly time to sit, let alone lead something big for the Kingdom.
But that question from Jesus stuck with me:
"What do you have?"
I may not have hours of free time or energy to spare, but I do have a heart that wants to glorify God. I have a few loaves… a few pockets of time, a willingness to show up, and a desire to love people well. And so I’m learning to offer those things, small as they may feel.
Sometimes that looks like showing up to church early to help. Other times it’s being available to pray with someone. It’s not flashy. But I believe God can still use it.
This week’s message reminded me that Jesus satisfies… not just our physical needs, but our deepest desires. And honestly? Lately, I’ve been hungry for purpose, peace, and assurance that what I’m doing matters. And every time I bring my “not enough” to Jesus, He meets me with compassion. He doesn’t send me away… He invites me to the table.
If you’ve ever felt like what you have isn’t enough or like your season of life is too busy or broken to be used… Can I just say: Bring it anyway.
Jesus multiplies what we surrender, and He satisfies like no one else. Your offering may feel small… but in His hands, it’s more than enough.
