2025.09.14 | When the Headlines Overwhelm, Remember God’s Track Record

This blog is based on the sermon from September 14, 2025.
This past week I found myself scrolling through headlines, and it felt like one bad story after another. Tragedy. Violence. Division. It can feel overwhelming… like the world is spinning faster into chaos, and we’re just trying to catch our breath.

Josh Fitch shared on Sunday how even the disciples struggled with forgetfulness. They had seen Jesus feed thousands, yet when faced with need again, they forgot His faithfulness. And in that forgetfulness, fear and confusion grew.

And I realized I’m not so different from them.

When the world looks shaky, it’s easy to forget what God has already done… in Scripture, in history, even in my own life. But here’s the truth we heard again this Sunday: God’s past faithfulness guarantees His future faithfulness.

When we forget, restlessness creeps in… and that’s when we become vulnerable to voices that distort the truth. Jesus warned His disciples to “beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees” (Matthew 16:6).

In the same way, we need to guard our hearts from teachings that sound spiritual but lead us away from the gospel. Forgetfulness makes room for deception, but remembrance strengthens our faith.

That’s why we gather as a church... to remind each other of who God is, what He’s done, and why the gospel is still good news today.

You don’t have to carry the weight of the world alone. Come sit with us this Sunday, hear the gospel, and be reminded of the hope we share in Jesus.
