2025.09.21 | Who Do You Say Jesus Is?
This blog is based on the sermon from September 21, 2025.
Growing up, I've learned about Jesus at home and from the church. For years, I admired Jesus. I thought of Him as a great teacher, a good man, even an example worth following. But there came a turning point in my own life when I realized Jesus was more than all of that. He wasn’t just one among many options. He was Lord.
That shift changed everything. My prayers stopped being distant. Worship became more than singing songs. And my faith became personal, rooted in a Savior who knows me and calls me His own.
Reflecting on Matthew 16 this Sunday, Peter’s confession reminds me that the question Jesus asked him is the same one He asks each of us: “Who do you say that I am?”
It’s not enough to ride on someone else’s faith, or simply go along with what the crowd says about Jesus. Faith is personal. But thank God, it’s also something we grow together. Every Sunday at Hope Community, I’m reminded that I’m not standing alone. Jesus promised, “the gates of hell will not prevail against my church.” That promise gives me strength when life feels overwhelming.
If you’ve been wrestling with who Jesus really is, I want to encourage you: bring your questions, bring your doubts, and bring your heart to Him. You may just find, like I did, that He’s not only the Christ, the Son of the living God... He’s your Savior, too.

Reflection Questions
- How would you personally answer Jesus’ question: “Who do you say that I am?”
- Have you been relying on someone else’s faith instead of making it your own?
- What does Peter’s confession teach you about trusting Jesus as Lord?
