2025.06.01 | When Bold Faith Feels Costly

This blog is based on the sermon from June 1, 2025.
I’ve followed Jesus for a few years now, but I still haven’t figured out how to talk to my parents about it.

They know I go to church. They’ve seen the change in me. But whenever I try to bring up what I’m learning, or how Jesus has changed my life, it’s like a wall goes up.

They nod. They change the subject. Sometimes they get defensive.

I walk away wondering… was that too much? Should I have stayed quiet?

This week’s message from Acts 14 hit close to home.

Paul and Barnabas faced real resistance …  not just awkward conversations, but verbal attacks and actual danger. And yet… they stayed.
“They remained a long time, speaking boldly for the Lord.”
- Acts 14:3
They didn’t give up when people pushed back. They didn’t water it down.

They kept sharing the gospel, because they knew this was the only news that saves.

That line has stuck with me:

“It’s not Jesus plus political change. Not Jesus plus our comfort. It’s Christ crucified… and that’s enough.”
So even if my voice shakes when I talk about Jesus… I’ll keep speaking.

Even when the people closest to me don’t respond the way I hope… I’ll keep praying.

Because I believe Jesus is worth it. And I believe His love can reach them, too.

If you’ve ever felt discouraged trying to share your faith with someone you love… you’re not alone. And this week’s message is for you.
