2025.09.28 | Jesus Is Still Building His Church… And We Get to Be Part of It
This blog is based on the sermon from September 28, 2025.
When I listened to the service this past Sunday, one line from Matthew 16 kept echoing in my mind: “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
It’s easy to feel like the world is unraveling. Some days the headlines look darker than ever, and even in my own life, some moments feel heavy. But this promise from Jesus reminded me that no matter how shaky life feels, His plan is steady. He is building His church, and nothing can stop Him.
What stood out to me most was when Pastor Jeff reminded us that Jesus builds His church through suffering, resurrection, and multiplication. He loved us enough to suffer for us. He rose from the dead so that sin and death no longer have the final word. And now, He invites us to join Him in His mission: multiplying hope and bringing the gospel to others.
That part really got me thinking. It’s one thing to believe that Jesus died for me; it’s another to believe He wants to work through me. I don’t always feel strong, bold, or qualified. But Jesus doesn’t ask me to be perfect… He asks me to be willing. The truth is, His plan to reach the world still runs through ordinary people like us.
And that makes me ask myself some honest questions:

But Jesus doesn’t ask me to be perfect… He asks me to be willing. The truth is, His plan to reach the world still runs through ordinary people like us.
And that makes me ask myself some honest questions:
- Do I believe that Jesus is still building His church today?
- Am I willing to be part of His plan, even when it costs something?
- Where might He be calling me to step out in faith… to serve, to share, or simply to trust Him more?
- What’s one small step I can take this week to live as part of the church Jesus is building?
I left Sunday with a renewed hope. Not because the world suddenly looks less broken, but because I was reminded that the church isn’t fragile. Jesus promised it would stand, and His resurrection proves that nothing, not even death, can undo His work.
So if you’ve been feeling worn out, discouraged, or unsure of your place, I want to remind you: Jesus hasn’t forgotten you. He is still building His church, and He’s inviting you into something eternal.
Come join us this Sunday at Hope Community. Let’s worship, grow, and walk out this mission together.
