2025.06.29 | Learning to Just Point to Jesus

This blog is based on the sermon from June 29, 2025.
There was a season when I thought the most "spiritual" people were always on stage… preaching, singing, leading, doing something visibly powerful for God.

And if I’m being honest, I didn’t see myself there.

Sure, I loved Jesus. I read my Bible, showed up to church, tried to serve where I could. But deep down, I felt like I wasn’t really making an impact unless I was doing something big. Something bold. Something loud.

This week’s message in Acts 15 reminded me of something I’ve slowly been learning: you don’t need a microphone to make a difference in someone’s faith.

In the passage, we see Judas and Silas, faithful, trusted leaders, sent to the believers in Antioch, not to perform or take charge, but simply to encourage and strengthen them.
Judas and Silas, who were themselves prophets,
said much to encourage and strengthen the believers.”
– Acts 15:32
That’s it. That was the mission. And it was enough.

Their presence brought clarity, comfort, and courage. They reminded the believers that salvation wasn’t about adding more rules… it was about trusting Jesus completely. And they did it through their words, their time, and their love for the church.

It hit me that some of the most meaningful ministry happens in the margins. In the text message you send. In the coffee you bring. In the way you remind someone that they matter and that Jesus hasn’t forgotten them.

They didn’t go to start a revival or lead a conference. They simply went to build others up in faith.

And that’s something any of us can do.

One part of the message stuck with me: “Are people growing in their faith by your presence, your words, and your example?”

I thought about the people who’ve done that for me. It’s not always the person on the platform. Sometimes, it’s the one who texts me out of nowhere with a verse. The one who remembers to pray for my kid’s test or my job interview. The one who tells me, in the middle of a hard week, “Keep going. Jesus is still worth it.”

And now, I want to be that for someone else.

Sometimes I still wrestle with wanting to do more… be more. But I’m learning that it’s not about doing the most. It’s about pointing people to Jesus with whatever I can do. Whether it’s loud or quiet. Public or unseen.

Encouragement isn’t extra in the Christian life… it’s essential. We all need it. And we’re all called to give it.

So if you're feeling small or unseen today, maybe you need this reminder too:

Your faithfulness to Jesus… even in a text, a prayer, or a kind word... might be exactly what someone else needs to keep going.

And that’s no small thing.
Who can you encourage this week?

A quick message, a note, or just showing up… it matters more than you think.
